Ariana Grande is welcoming a new chapter in her life; musically and romantically. The pop icon released her eighth recording; Petal as well as reuniting with her ex-boyfriend Ricky Alvarez on social media, allowing the singer’s new era to become one of her most scrutinized Lately.
Petal was released on July 31, 2026 and was Grande’s first new studio album since Eternal Sunshine. The album consists of 13 tracks and was in collaboration with her long time producer, ILYA Salmanzadeh, who has been responsible for several of her biggest projects.
Grande has described Petal as “an album about growing up and breaking free of bad energy.” The album has already achieved an excellent commercial outcome. Petalsold over 295,000 equivalent album units in its first week of release to arrive straight at No.
1 on the Billboard 200, making it Grande sixth No. 1 album. And, to date, Grande biggest first week of the 2020s.
Though for her fans the music is just part of the allure. Also, Grande has also garnered substantial media coverage about her apparent rekindled relationship with former boyfriend, Ricky Alvarez. Recently Grande has begun posting personal pics of her and Alvarez to Instagram including some very sweet pictures of them.
Alvarez, who was then reposting the images, turned months of speculation into a even more open relationship. The rekindled relationship was discussed among fans even before it was publicly confirmed.
As reports at some point during her Eternal Sunshine Tour, Grande altered part of “Thank U, Next” writing out the line about writing a song about Ricky and replacing it with “We found our way back to each other.” Their reunion is after Grande’s full-time relationship with actor Ethan Slater ended, after years of being with him.
The singer has been spending quite some time with Alvarez and with her family and friends, meantime maintaining her busy career. The rumors suggest the couple is taking it slow and not turning their relationship into the next celebrity paparazzi experiment. That feeling of emotionally moving on, is in some strange way, the working theme of Petal.
Grande has said the album is like things “growing in-between the cracks of a really hard time, ” and has noted that she hopes the album investigated “how people have to learn to be okay with the good and the bad.” The album title alone reflects this theme of rebirth. By not aiming to deliver a fully refined version of herself, Grande seems to invite a more organic, unabashed facet of her personality.
She has characterized Petal as “a little feral” and explained that it “definitely comes from a space of caring less about being overly cognizant and polite”. Timing is crucial as well, since Grande is about to embark on her long-awaited return to concert performances.Today, after concluding the North American leg of theEternal Sunshine Tourin Chicago, she will undertake the final 10 gigs at London’s O2 Arena through September 1.
